Introduction

Shravan (also known as Sawan) is one of the most sacred and spiritually significant months in the Hindu calendar. Dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva, this holy month is celebrated with devotion, fasting, temple visits, prayers, and cultural festivities throughout India.

The arrival of Shravan also marks the beginning of the beautiful monsoon season. Nature becomes greener, rivers are filled with fresh water, and the entire atmosphere reflects peace, purity, and renewal.

Shravan, also known as Sawan, is among the most sacred months in the Hindu calendar. During this divine period, millions of devotees worship Lord Shiva with immense devotion. Every Monday, known as Shravan Somvar, holds special importance as devotees observe fasts, offer holy water, milk, and Bilva leaves to the Shiva Lingam, and chant the powerful mantra "Om Namah Shivaya."

The arrival of Shravan also coincides with the beautiful monsoon season, symbolizing purification, prosperity, and new beginnings. Across India, temples are beautifully decorated, Kanwar Yatras fill the roads with devotion, and families come together to celebrate festivals like Hariyali Teej, Nag Panchami, and Raksha Bandhan.
